Gerrit Rietvelt, a former member of the De Stijl art movement, once designed a chair named “Red and Blue Chair.” It was modestly constructed of timbers in di erent sizes and similar thickness. The essential parts for chairs, such as a seat, a backrest, legs, and armrests are made of the same materials. Its simple and seamless layout gives itself the attractive and slick appearance.
The boundary between tables and trays is vague – even though they both share the commonality that we place things upon them. Rietvelt said that his chairs do not have clear dividing lines among the legs, and the armrests as well as the structures and the constructing materials That symbolizes the escape from the preconceived ideas of modernism. Companion is a long and narrow table with a wooden and ceramic tray on it. You can place the table next to a sofa or a chair and directly put nuts or potato chips in the ceramic tray while for watching TV or movies. You can also use it as an armrest when there is nothing on it. No rule in how you use it makes the presence very pure.
